About your host:

Baylee Burkhardt, 24, is a passionate sports journalist who is new to the Wayne County area. She graduated from Wilkes University in 2023 with a BA in Communication Studies with a focus in Multimedia Journalism and a minor in Sports Management. While at Wilkes, she wore many hats, serving as the Sports Director and sports anchor for WilkesNow TV, the Sports Editor for The Beacon, and a dual-sport athlete in softball and basketball.

Baylee worked for the Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre in 2022, as well as being a photo contributor for Tri-County Independent in 2023–25. During her time at Wilkes, Baylee started her own freelance photography and videography business, Baylee Burkhardt Media LLC (formerly Baylee Guedes Media), offering freelance photography and videography services.

She launched Baylee’s Bleacher in 2024 with episodes covering professional sports and now brings her podcast to SportzWire with a brand-new local focus. Baylee is eager to step into her new role as a writer, photographer, videographer, and podcast host.
