NEPA Storm Sweeps Weekend in New York, Advances to USSSA Fall State Championship

The Mid Valley based NEPA Storm 10U softball team continued its dominant fall season in Apalachin, New York, going 2-0 on the weekend with wins over Eyota Travel Softball and the Southern Tier Thunder.

In Game 1, the Storm defeated Eyota 6-1 behind stellar pitching from Nora Piercy and Grace Eboli, who combined for 11 strikeouts. Offensively, Grace Whitling blasted a home run and drove in three runs to lead the lineup. Arya Ameika collected two hits, while Liliana Smargiassi added a double and several players contributed on the basepaths. For Eyota, Madison P. had a hit and RBI.

In Game 2, the Storm rolled past the Southern Tier Thunder 13-1 in a four-inning contest. The team’s pitching trio of Piercy, Eboli, and Emma Fredericks combined for nine strikeouts while allowing just one hit. Piercy struck out six over two perfect innings to start the game.

At the plate, the Storm’s offense erupted for 12 hits. Frankie Nails powered the lineup with a home run and four total bases, driving in three runs. Nora Piercy added a double and three total bases, while Whitling chipped in with three total bases of her own. Ameika, Smargiassi, and Adaline O. each reached base multiple times, with Adaline also getting hit by a pitch. The Storm ran wild on the bases, stealing 23 total bases, including four each by Ameika, Smargiassi, and Liliana Piercy.

The NEPA Storm now turns its focus to the upcoming 10U USSSA Fall State Championship, set for November 1–2 in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, where they’ll look to carry their momentum into another strong showing.
