Bethlehem, PA — It took eight innings to settle it, but Nazareth Area came out on top with a gritty 4-2 road victory over Freedom in an extra-inning showdown on Tuesday afternoon.
The Blue Eagles jumped ahead early, notching runs in the first and second innings, but it was their late-game poise that made the difference. With the score tied at 2-2 heading into the eighth, Nazareth capitalized on key at-bats and aggressive base running to push across two decisive runs and seal the win.
Nazareth's offense was led by Landon Glovas, who turned in a standout performance with three hits, one run scored, and one RBI. Nate Grzenda came up clutch in the extras, delivering a double on the day, and the eventual game-winning RBI. Petruska also played a crucial role, scoring twice and adding a hit. Biedermann and Kilareski each chipped in a hit to round out the Blue Eagles’ seven-hit effort.
Freedom kept pace early, answering Nazareth’s early surge with a run in the second and another in the fourth. Darien Serrano paced the Patriots offensively with two hits and an RBI, while Andrews, Ledee, and Walker contributed a hit apiece. Kiefner and Walker were responsible for Freedom's two runs scored.
While the Patriots played a clean game defensively—committing no errors—Nazareth overcame two defensive miscues thanks to timely hitting and strong pitching down the stretch.
With the win, Nazareth continues to build momentum on the road, while Freedom will look to bounce back and regroup as they enter the back half of the season.
