SPARTAN STADIUM, THROOP — The Mid Valley Spartans hosted a surging Mountain View squad under the lights Monday night, but it was the Eagles who kept their momentum soaring. After a scoreless first half, Mountain View broke through in the second frame with a pair of decisive goals to secure a 2–0 victory, extending their win streak to seven straight.

The win improves the Eagles to 9-1-1 on the season, while the Spartans drop to 6-4, snapping their own three-game winning streak.

A Night Bigger Than the Scoreboard

While the final tally went Mountain View’s way, the evening at Spartan Stadium was about much more than soccer. Mid Valley partnered with the John Malvizzi Foundation to host a mental health awareness event, filling the stands with inspiration and purpose. Fans were greeted with T-shirts bearing uplifting messages, along with basket raffles to raise support and awareness.

Adding another layer of meaning, the Spartans wore orange socks to honor former alum Eddie Kaufman, who is currently battling cancer. The school announced that its athletic teams will continue the tribute throughout the month of September, a visible reminder of the community’s strength and solidarity.
