Bethlehem, Pa. – Lehigh kept its perfect start alive in style Saturday, taking down Penn 44-30 in front of a packed Family Weekend crowd at Goodman Stadium.
The Mountain Hawks (5-0) showed off balance on offense, racking up an even 300 yards on the ground and a season-high 239 through the air. Junior Luke Yoder powered the run game with 173 yards and two touchdowns, while sophomore QB Hayden Johnson tossed for a career-best 239 yards and two scores.
The play of the day came from senior Geoffrey Jamiel, who not only hauled in 132 yards and a touchdown but also pulled off a 20-yard touchdown run on a gutsy fake field goal that swung momentum back to Lehigh in the third quarter.
Penn quarterback Liam O’Brien kept the Quakers in it with 316 yards and three touchdowns, but a timely Lehigh interception and Yoder’s late 25-yard scoring burst sealed the win.
The Mountain Hawks are 5-0 for the first time since 2012 and will look to keep the ride going as Ivy League play heats up.
