Moosic Stays Alive with Offensive Surge Over Dunmore in District 17 Elimination Game

CLARKS SUMMIT — Moosic Little League exploded for 14 hits and pulled away late to earn an 11-5 victory over Dunmore Little League in a District 17 12U elimination game Wednesday evening at Abington Little League.
Marek Samsell set the tone for Moosic at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored. Samsell doubled in both the first and third innings, then added an RBI single in the fifth to cap a huge day offensively.
Moosic wasted no time getting on the board, plating two runs in the first on RBI hits from Samsell and Nick Posluszny. In the second, Brady Lavelle and Jack Pierson each delivered run-scoring singles to extend the lead to 4-0.
Dunmore kept things close early thanks to a gritty performance by Brayden McCarthy, who drove in two runs and struck out six over 3.2 innings of work. Brady Schulte, Harrison Timlin, Corey Pregmon, and McCarthy all chipped in hits as Dunmore drew eight walks to stay within reach.
But the Moosic offense proved relentless. Giovanni Sosa grounded out for an RBI in the third, then added a two-run double in the fifth as part of a five-run outburst that put the game out of reach. Mason Linck continued his hot streak at the plate with two hits and two RBIs, while Roman Quintero also singled home a run in the fifth.
Sosa got the win on the mound for Moosic, tossing five innings while allowing four runs on three hits and striking out four. Posluszny closed things out in relief with a clean final frame.
Wyatt Davis anchored a flawless defensive effort for Moosic, recording seven chances without an error. The win keeps Moosic’s championship hopes alive as they continue their push through the elimination bracket.
