Montrose, PA - The Montrose Lady Meteors delivered a strong performance on Monday, securing a 37-28 win over Forest City in a Division III matchup.
The game was part of the Coaches vs. Cancer week, where the Montrose community rallied to raise $1,107 through pledges for rebounds. The teams combined for 41 rebounds, with pledges amounting to $27 per rebound.
Game Highlights:
Montrose was led by Sadie Jones, who scored 21 points, with 16 coming in the second half. Her dominant play was pivotal in ensuring the victory. Molly Weller contributed eight points, including two three-pointers, to support the Meteors’ offense.
Forest City’s Marlo Urbas was the standout player for her team, scoring 11 points and showcasing her skill on both ends of the court. Kayla Pecko and Claire Lombardi chipped in six points each to keep Forest City in the game.
Montrose controlled the game early, building a 19-10 lead in the first quarter. Despite a defensive battle in the second quarter, where both teams struggled offensively, the Meteors held on to their lead. They outscored Forest City 11-8 in the third quarter and sealed the game with a strong defensive effort in the fourth.
