Misericordia University used a blistering shooting performance and a wave of bench production to overpower Penn State Abington, 95–67, on Monday night at the Anderson Sports-Health Center. The Cougars improved to 4–2 on the season, while the Nittany Lions dropped to 0–8.

From the opening tip, Misericordia seized control. The Cougars shot an impressive 50 percent from the field in the first half—punctuated by eight three-pointers—to build a commanding 47–28 halftime lead. They never looked back, maintaining their pace with a 48-point second half and finishing the night shooting 51 percent overall, including 12-of-23 from long range.

Forward Matt Prociak anchored the Misericordia offense, scoring 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting while securing a game-high 10 rebounds. His presence inside helped the Cougars dominate the glass, finishing with a 51–31 rebounding advantage.

But it was Misericordia’s depth that truly overwhelmed Penn State Abington. The Cougars’ bench poured in 49 points, led by D.J. Orloff with 12, Darryl Wright with 8, and Patrick Brown and Bryson Fenwick, who each knocked down a pair of threes for 6 apiece. In total, 20 Misericordia players saw the floor, and 14 reached the scoring column.

Misericordia also excelled in second-chance opportunities, turning offensive rebounds into 24 points compared to Abington’s 9.

Penn State Abington was paced by standout guard JoJo Kelly, who scored 21 points, including three three-pointers while playing 37 minutes. Mike Byfield added 17 points, and Tyler Meinel chipped in 12 to round out the Nittany Lions’ primary scoring options. Despite the trio's efforts, Abington struggled to keep pace, shooting just 38 percent for the game and 5-of-18 from deep.

Misericordia’s defensive pressure also played a pivotal role, forcing 10 turnovers and converting them into 13 points. Meanwhile, the Cougars’ crisp ball movement yielded 20 assists on their 35 made field goals.

Penn State Abington managed brief surges—tying the score four times in the early going—but each time Misericordia countered with a run fueled by hot perimeter shooting or timely bench contributions.

With the victory, the Cougars remain unbeaten at home this season and continue to build momentum heading into MAC Freedom play. Penn State Abington, still searching for its first win, will look to regroup as its United East schedule approaches.

Attendance for the game was 150 in Dallas, PA, where the home crowd had plenty to cheer for from start to finish.
