THROOP — In a game filled with energy, teamwork, and excitement, the Mid Valley Little League Softball Minors brought home the Pennsylvania 8-10 Year Old District 32 championship with a 13-0 win over Wayne Highlands on Sunday evening at Throop Little League.
From the first pitch, Mid Valley came out ready to play. The girls wasted no time getting on the board, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning. They followed that up with a seven-run second to take full control of the game. Every girl in the lineup found a way to contribute — whether it was getting on base, scoring a run, or making a big play in the field.
One of the biggest moments came when Brooke Patchcoski stepped to the plate and crushed an inside-the-park home run, bringing three runs in and sending the Mid Valley crowd into a roar. Patchcoski finished the day 1-for-1 with 3 RBIs and also led the team with six defensive plays behind the plate.
Nora Piercy and Grace Eboli were lights out in the circle. Eboli started the game and pitched three no-hit innings, striking out nine batters and walking none. Piercy closed things out in the fourth, striking out the side to seal a combined no-hitter — a remarkable accomplishment for any team, especially at this level.
The offense showed patience and hustle all around. Nina Desantis, Brielle Dixon, and Eboli each smashed doubles. Adaline Owens worked a key bases-loaded walk. Leah Prisco crossed the plate twice. Grace Phillips, Annabelle Mackey, and Quinn Baker added to the hit parade, while the entire team showed discipline by drawing seven walks as a group.
Defensively, Mid Valley played a clean game without a single error — a reflection of their focus and preparation. Their effort behind the pitchers helped preserve the no-hitter and kept Wayne Highlands off the basepaths all game.
Wayne Highlands, despite the final score, stayed composed and kept fighting until the final out. Pitcher Olivia A showed grit and heart, throwing all three innings and battling through 85 pitches. MacKenzie D led the way defensively with four putouts, and the team stayed positive throughout — a testament to their sportsmanship and love for the game.
