WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The bright lights of Brandon Park Field didn’t faze the Mid Valley Junior Teeners one bit.

Opening their State Tournament run in commanding fashion, the Section 5 champs put together a complete performance on Wednesday — piling up 12 hits, seven stolen bases, and a lockdown pitching effort to cruise past French Creek Valley (Section 8) by a score of 13-2.

From the very first inning, Mid Valley showed they were ready. Nick Hricenak opened the scoring with a productive groundout in the first, followed by a bases-loaded walk drawn by Jackson Bohanski in the second to double the lead. A passed ball in the third made it 3-0, but the fifth inning is where Mid Valley broke it wide open.

In a five-run explosion, Anthony Mancuso laced an RBI double, Dom DelRosso followed with a run-scoring double of his own, Bradley Siegfried added an RBI single, and Hricenak brought in another with a groundout. A passed ball capped off the inning, giving Mid Valley full control of the game.

On the mound, Hricenak set the tone with 3.1 strong innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four without surrendering a run. Jackson Zuraski and Nicholas Kovaleski came on in relief and handled the rest, keeping French Creek Valley off balance throughout.

Offensively, Mid Valley was relentless. Siegfried, DelRosso, Zuraski, and Bohanski each notched two hits, with Bohanski going a perfect 2-for-2 and leading the team with three RBIs. The lineup showed impressive plate discipline, working eight walks and wreaking havoc on the basepaths with seven stolen bases — including multiple from Siegfried and Zuraski.

Mid Valley also flashed the leather, turning a clean double play and staying composed defensively throughout the game.

French Creek Valley managed three hits in the contest, including a 1-for-2 effort and RBI from Bryce Huddleson, along with singles by Isaac Beebe and Santino Trenga.

With the win, Mid Valley Juniors move forward with a round 2 matchup Thursday at 530pm vs District 12 champs, Loyalsock.

Mid Valley seems ready to flash the firepower, depth, and focus and make a deep run in the State Tournament in Williamsport.
