Old Forge, Pa - The Mid Valley Spartanettes traveled to Old Forge on Friday night and emerged victorious in a tightly contested battle, defeating the Old Forge Lady Devils 51-45 in a Division II girls' basketball clash.
Quarter-by-Quarter Scoring Breakdown
Mid Valley came out strong, leading 11-9 after the first quarter. The Spartanettes widened the gap with a dominant second quarter, outscoring Old Forge 16-10 to take a 27-19 lead at halftime. Old Forge fought back in the third, narrowing the deficit by outscoring Mid Valley 13-11. However, the teams traded 13 points apiece in the final quarter, allowing Mid Valley to hold on for the win.
Standout Performances
Jewlya McCullon led all scorers with 21 points for Old Forge, including two 3-pointers and a stellar 7-of-8 performance at the free-throw line. Aryanna Harris and Ava Arnold each contributed 8 points, with Arnold making an impact on both ends of the court.
For Mid Valley, Mackenzie Adolfson was the top scorer with 19 points, showcasing her consistency inside the paint. Krista Cortazar and Mackenzie Richards each added 12 points, with Cortazar sinking a 3-pointer. Elise Larson also hit from beyond the arc for the Spartanettes.
