Two winless power programs collided Friday night at Dunmore Stadium, where Scranton Prep stormed back from a sluggish first half to stun Delaware Valley 49-44.
The Warriors set the early tone as Mike Iuzzolino gashed the Prep defense for 210 rushing yards and two long touchdown runs, while quarterback Colin McGarvey added both rushing and passing scores to help DV build a commanding halftime lead.
But the second half belonged to Prep. Quarterback Will McPartland, making his return this season after suffering an ACL injury in last year’s state playoff loss to Northwestern Lehigh, took over in spectacular fashion. The senior racked up 180 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground while throwing for 228 yards and two more scores. His connections to Jack Mendola and Braedon McPartland, plus an electrifying 85-yard fourth-quarter run, powered a 35-0 run that flipped the game on its head.
Scranton Prep’s defense tightened late, holding off a final DV push to secure the Cavaliers’ first win of 2025. For Delaware Valley, Iuzzolino’s big night and McGarvey’s three total TDs weren’t enough to avoid a fourth straight loss.
Prep (1-3) now turns its attention to rival Scranton, fresh off a dominant Bell Game victory, while DV (0-4) looks to rebound against Wallenpaupack in Week 5.
