Tuesday, May 20th, the Loyalsock Lancers faced off the Montoursville Warriors in the D4 AAA Quarters and wow did we have a game! The Lancers inserted their dominance early on in the game, to show that they were ready to win. This season, the Lancers went 1-1 against Montoursville in the regular season, but tonight the Lancers can confidently say that they are 2-1 against Montoursville Warriors. The Lancers played an astonishing game and took home the win in the first round of playoffs. The ending score of the game was 12-6. The Lancers previous game scores against the Warriors were 4-6 (L) and 8-7 (W). The Lancers showed that they have worked hard over the past few weeks, and came prepared to face the Warriors and overcome the challenges that the Warriors gave them in the past games to make it close. The Lancers showed a very strong and confident team tonight, and are moving on in the next round of playoff’s.
One player who had a remarkable game behind the plate is number 22 Shyla Fulp. Shyla had a great evening at the plate going 3-4, with 3 runs, a triple, and an RBI. This is not Shyla’s first time adding to her team’s talent to help them advance. She has made an impact on the team all season behind the plate and at the plate. If it weren't for Shyla’s last performance against Montoursville, they would’ve won that game in 7 innings. A runner was on first base and Fulp released a piercing throw, picking her off the plate. Instead of it being a 3-0 with one out game, it was limited to a 2-0 with 2 outs. With the help of Fulp from her playmaking, the damage was limited with what could’ve been a runaway first inning.
The Loyalsock Lancers will be moving on in the playoffs. You can expect a game schedule of our playoffs on our Instagram page @Loyalsocksoftballmedia, or on our Facebook, which is under the same name. Congratulations to the Lancer’s on their huge win Tuesday night against the Warriors. The Lancers projected growth, resilience, hard work, strength, and teamwork. The Lancers moved through this game against the Warriors like a breeze, they are ready to take on whatever is coming their way in the rest of the rounds of playoffs.
