At Wallenpaupack’s annual Youth Soccer Night, the atmosphere went beyond the scoreboard. More than 400 members of the Wallenpaupack Youth Soccer League poured onto the field before kickoff, greeted with cheers as they exchanged high-fives with varsity players. The moment gave the younger athletes a chance to experience the spotlight and connect with the players they look up to every week.
From the sidelines, the excitement was clear. Kids wore big smiles, proudly sporting their youth league gear, and many stayed locked in on every touch of the ball, watching how the older players handled the intensity of a varsity match. For them, the evening wasn’t just about recognition—it was about inspiration, imagining themselves one day wearing the same jersey and competing under the lights.
On the field, Valley View earned a 2-1 win. Braden Loff scored the opening goal and later assisted Jagger Roe for what proved to be the deciding tally. Wallenpaupack answered with a goal of its own but couldn’t find the equalizer late.
While the result mattered in the standings, the night’s biggest impact may have been off the scoreboard. The interaction between youth players and varsity athletes showcased the strength of the community’s soccer culture, leaving the younger generation motivated to keep chasing their own moments on the field.
