MONTROSE, CO — The Montrose Varsity Meteors pulled off a stunning comeback on Wednesday night, rallying in the final innings to edge the Mountain View Varsity Eagles 8-7 in a dramatic, back-and-forth battle.

Mountain View jumped out to an early lead with a 5-run second inning, capitalizing on timely hitting from Jagger (3-for-4, 2 RBI), H. Bain, and G. Gesford. Despite tallying 10 hits on the night, the Eagles left 12 runners on base, which proved costly in the end.

Montrose clawed their way back, sparked by a 2-run fourth inning and a massive 5-run rally in the bottom of the sixth. L. Cokely led the charge with a 3-for-3 performance, driving in two runs and scoring three times. C. McGee and C. Harman also contributed with clutch triples during the late-inning surge.

A. Sorensen earned the win in relief for Montrose, tossing four strong innings and allowing just one run while striking out three. McGee started the game, going four innings and holding the Eagles in check early.

Mountain View’s J. Miller and Jagger combined for six innings before H. Bain took the loss in relief, surrendering the go-ahead runs in the sixth.

Montrose improves with the momentum-building win, while Mountain View will look to regroup after letting a late lead slip away.

Game Notes:

• Mountain View had four players with multi-hit games.

• Montrose executed timely extra-base hits, including three triples.

• Both teams combined for 20 hits and 15 runs.

• Montrose capitalized with runners in scoring position, stranding only six compared to Mountain View’s 12.

A playoff atmosphere was in the air, and if this game was any indication, both squads are poised for exciting finishes to their seasons.
