In a battle of first place, Lake-Lehman held a one game lead. Kathryn Morgan made sure the Lady Black Knights stayed in first place. She scored a game high 25 points as Lake-Lehman took a 65-60 victory at Holy Redeemer High School. “Kathryn is as steady as they go. All the kids came up with clutch plays tonight. Foul shooting was excellent. We’re in a good spot, we’re going to keep working.” Said Lady Black Knights head coach Charlie Lavan. “It was great. Finishing shots has been a struggle for me but today the shots were falling. Our team worked well together. I thought it was a really good night.” Said Lake-Lehman Junior Kathryn Morgan. Ella Wilson added 14 points and Delcia Biscotto had 11.
The Black Knights got to a 9-3 lead to start the game. The Lady Royals cut the lead down to 9-7 with a basket by Brooke Kroptavich and a pair of free throws by Gillian Parson. Just before the buzzer, Kinley Purdy hit a three pointer from just before the buzzer to make it 12-7 Lake-Lehman at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Black Knights went on an 8-0 run to start the second quarter to make it a 13 point lead. The Lady Royals cut the lead down to 6 with a 9-2 run but Morgan hit consecutive baskets then Ella Wilson got a basket to build the lead up to 12. After some back and forth, with 1.1 seconds left, Wilson hit a jumper to make it 36-25 Lake-Lehman at halftime.
Holy Redeemer got three pointers from Kayla Pekarovsky and McKenzie Chimock to cut the lead to 36-31. A three pointer by Delcia Biscotto and a basket by Morgan built the lead up to ten. The Black Knights got the lead up to 13 with a basket by Morgan and Purdy hitting three free throws. The Lady Royals went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 48-40 at the end of the third quarter. After a basket by Morgan gave Lake-Lehman a ten point lead, Holy Redeemer went on a 5-0 with baskets by Chimock and Bella Boylan to make it a five point game. After some back and forth, Wilson scored four straight points including a block and lay up in transition to make it 57-49. A three point play by Kroptavich made it a six point game. Down the stretch, Biscotto hit six free throws as Lake-Lehman took a 65-60 victory. The Black Knights are now two games up in the WVC Division 2 standings with four games left. For Holy Redeemer, Megan Albrecht had a team-high 20 points. McKenzie Chimock scored 14 points and Gillian Parson added 10.
