KINGSTON — Lake-Lehman delivered one of the season’s most dramatic comebacks Friday night, erasing a two-goal deficit in the final minutes to defeat Wyoming Seminary 3-2 in overtime in a Wyoming Valley Conference boys soccer matchup.
The Black Knights carried early momentum, but it was Seminary that struck first. Owen Stratanski opened the scoring in the first half off an assist from Louis-David Jolin, before Jolin doubled the advantage in the second half with help from Kris Jones. The second goal appeared to shift momentum firmly in Seminary’s favor, leaving Lake-Lehman facing a deflating two-goal deficit.
The match turned with under 10 minutes to play. Greyson Dieffenbacher brought Lake-Lehman back into contention with a goal at 7:21 remaining. He then stunned the home side by netting the equalizer just three minutes later, sending the contest to overtime.
In the extra session, Andrew Mathes completed the comeback with the game-winner at 4:30, assisted by Hunter Palka, securing the 3-2 victory.
Lake-Lehman outshot Seminary 13-6, held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks, and improved to 10-1 overall, while Seminary dropped to 6-3.
What seemed like a decisive night for Wyoming Seminary instead became a showcase of Lake-Lehman’s resilience, as the Black Knights turned a two-goal deficit into a statement win in Kingston.
