Lake-Lehman Outpaces Northwest in Boys Track & Field Meet

The Lake-Lehman boys track and field team traveled to Northwest Area on Tuesday and came away with a strong 79-67 victory in a tightly contested meet. With depth across field events and middle-distance races, Lehman overcame several standout performances from Northwest to seal the win.

Lake-Lehman’s consistency proved to be the difference, as the Black Knights racked up points in nearly every event, including key sweeps in the 800m, high jump, and triple jump.

Event Highlights

Distance Events

  • 3200m Relay: Lake-Lehman opened strong with a win from Martin, Lukavich, and F. Cronin.

  • 1600m Run: Northwest’s Fritz took the win in 4:50, while Lehman grabbed key points in 2nd.

  • 800m Run: Lehman dominated the event, sweeping the top three spots, led by Lukavich’s 2:05.

  • 3200m Run: Fritz (NW) earned another win with a time of 10:14, but Lehman stayed close behind.

Sprints & Hurdles

  • 100m Dash: Clink (NW) sprinted to victory in 11.4 seconds, with Freeman and Joseph (LL) right behind.

  • 200m Dash: Clink repeated in the 200m, but Lehman picked up solid second and third-place points.

  • 400m Dash: Newell (NW) claimed the win at 55.5, while Smith and S. Smith (LL) added to the Lehman tally.

  • 110m Hurdles: Rooker (NW) placed first in 19.4, but Bond and Smith (LL) finished close behind.

  • 300m Hurdles: Rooker won again, though Bond and Yanuzzi (LL) kept Lehman in the points.

Relays

  • 400m Relay: The Lake-Lehman team of Joseph, Mattie, Patla, and Freeman took first in 47.2 seconds.

  • 1600m Relay: Lehman closed out the meet strong, winning the 4x400 in 3:45 over Northwest’s 3:57.

Field Events

  • Triple Jump: Cronin led a Lehman sweep with a 41'9" effort.

  • Long Jump: Diffenbacher (LL) won with 18'9.75", edging out Clink (NW).

  • High Jump: Another clean sweep for Lehman, with Diffenbacher clearing 5'8".

  • Pole Vault: Remphrey (NW) earned one of the few field wins for Northwest at 7'6".

  • Shot Put: Bonham (NW) took first, but Lehman scored with Kirkutis in third.

  • Discus: Northwest swept the event, led by Crawford’s massive 140'5" throw.

  • Javelin: Dunn (NW) edged Kirkutis (LL) by less than two feet.

Top Performers

  • Cronin (LL) – Won the triple jump and ran on the winning 4x800 and 4x400 relays.

  • Diffenbacher (LL) – Earned three first-place finishes in the jumps.
