LANSFORD — Under the lights at Anthracite Little League, the 10U Lady Wreckers All-Stars (Weatherly Little League) delivered a thrilling finish to punch their ticket to the Section 6 playoffs with a 4-3 walk-off victory over Carbon Softball in the District 18 championship game.
Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Briella Vanblargan stepped to the plate and delivered in the clutch—ripping a double that brought home two runs and sent her teammates charging out of the dugout in celebration. It was the exclamation point on a hard-fought battle between two determined squads.
The Lady Wreckers fell behind early after Maci B of Carbon roped a three-run double in the top of the first inning. But pitcher Mackenzie Clabia settled in from there, putting together a dominant performance. Clabia struck out 13 batters while allowing just one hit and three runs over six gritty innings of work.
Offensively, Vanblargan led the way with a perfect 2-for-2 night at the plate and two RBI. The Wreckers showed patience all game long, drawing nine walks—two each from Isabella Durham and Aubrey Clabia. On the base paths, they ran wild with 10 stolen bases, led by Clabia, Durham, Jenna Jones, and Myah Makowiec, who each swiped multiple bags.
Defensively, the Lady Wreckers were flawless—committing zero errors. Durham anchored the infield, making 13 plays to keep Carbon in check throughout.
Carbon put together a strong showing of their own. Lindsay B pitched five and a third innings, striking out seven and giving up just two hits. Sophia F led the team with two walks and three stolen bases, and Carbon turned a double play to help stay within striking distance late.
The full Lady Wreckers All-Stars roster includes:
Mackenzie Clabia, Aubrey Clabia, Briella Vanblargan, Cassidy Witner, Audrey Wagner, Korah Gilbert, Myah Makowiec, Reya Gregory, Isabella Durham, Jenna Jones, Mia Durham, and Auriella Rambaran. The team is led by Manager Rachel Witner and Assistant Coaches Kayla Durham and Autumn Gilbert.
With the win, the Lady Wreckers now advance to the Section 6 tournament hosted by West End Little League in Effort, PA, where they’ll look to keep the magic going in pursuit of a state berth.
