Montrose, PA – The Montrose Lady Meteors claimed a solid 48-35 victory over the Blue Ridge Raiders in a Division III girls' basketball matchup. Montrose took early control, leading 14-7 after the first quarter and extending their advantage to 34-21 at halftime.
Sadie Jones led Montrose with 13 points, including five successful free throws, while Carly Frey added nine points. Contributions from Caitlyn Reimel, Myckenna Kublo, Vivy Nabywaniec, and Ally Legg, each scoring five points, helped Montrose improve to 10-9 overall, 9-2 in conference play.
Despite the loss, sophomore Abigail Gelinger was a standout for Blue Ridge, scoring 28 of the team's 35 points, including three three-pointers. She dominated in the first half with 19 points, keeping the Raiders within reach before Montrose’s defense clamped down in the second half. Blue Ridge fell to 6-13 (4-7 conference).
Montrose will look to continue their momentum in their next matchup, while Blue Ridge aims to bounce back.
