Lackawanna Trail Triumphs Over Blue Ridge in Overtime Thriller
FACTORYVILLE, PA — In a game packed with drama and intensity, Lackawanna Trail outlasted Blue Ridge 58-54 in an overtime battle on Friday night. The Division III matchup saw the Lady Lions rally from an early deficit to secure their third win of the season, thanks to a stellar performance by Ayla Seigle, who poured in 23 points, including four three-pointers.
Blue Ridge came out firing in the first quarter, outscoring Lackawanna Trail 18-11 behind the sharp shooting of Abigail Gelinger, who tallied a game-high 25 points. However, the Lady Lions regrouped in the second quarter, tightening their defense and closing the gap to 27-26 at halftime.
The second half was a seesaw battle as Lackawanna Trail took the lead in the third quarter with a 17-12 run, fueled by key baskets from Reagan Norman and Seigle. Blue Ridge fought back in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but the Lady Lions dominated the extra period, outscoring their opponents 9-5 to clinch the win.
Seigle led the way for Lackawanna Trail with her 23-point performance, which included eight field goals and a 3-for-4 showing from the free-throw line. Senior Reagan Norman added 12 points, including a clutch three-pointer, while Madison Palmer contributed 8 points with two three-pointers.
On the other side, Gelinger’s 25 points and Lynndee Barbour’s 19 kept Blue Ridge in the game until the end. Barbour’s two three-pointers were critical in forcing overtime, but the Lady Lions’ composure and execution in the extra period proved the difference.
