Karwowski’s Two-Homer, Five-RBI Night Headlines Valley View’s Senior Night Rout Over Scranton

ARCHBALD – On a night meant to honor their seniors, Valley View gave their home crowd plenty to cheer about with a dominant 16-0 shutout win over Scranton on Wednesday. Behind a flawless pitching performance from Taylor Cawley and an explosive four-hit, two-home-run game from Kalli Karwowski, the Cougars sent their seniors out in style.
Valley View wasted no time, erupting for eight runs in the first inning. Maggie Hallett and Ella Swingle drew back-to-back bases-loaded walks to start the scoring, followed by a three-run double from Zoie Krupovich. Karwowski then launched the first of her two homers—this one a two-run blast to right field—to put the Cougars firmly in control.
The celebration continued in the second inning when Karwowski came back up and crushed a three-run shot to center field, capping a six-run frame that pushed the lead to 14-0. Valley View added two more runs in the fourth to secure the mercy-rule win in just four innings.
Cawley was nearly untouchable in the circle, firing four shutout innings with eight strikeouts and no walks. She allowed just three hits while throwing 52 pitches, 43 of them for strikes.
Offensively, Valley View racked up 11 hits and drew five walks. Ashlyn Palickar went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and a run scored. Swingle added a hit, two runs, and an RBI. The Cougars stole eight total bases and were flawless defensively, committing no errors on the night.
Scranton managed just three hits—one each from M. Cuarachillo, H. Polishan, and M. Thomas—but couldn’t break through against Cawley. The Knights struck out eight times and committed five errors.
