Valley View erupted for 14 hits and got dominant relief pitching to surge past Wallenpaupack 9-3 on Wednesday evening. The Cougars put together scoring bursts in three straight innings to take command and never looked back.
After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the second inning on an RBI groundout by L. Mancino and a run-scoring single from C. Babyak, Valley View answered immediately in the home half. Ashlan Palickar knocked in a run with a single, and Kalli Karwowski followed with another RBI base hit to give Valley View a 3-2 lead.

The Cougars padded their lead in the third inning when Emily Moyles laced a two-run double and Karwowski drove in her second of the day with a sacrifice fly, making it 6-2. In the fourth, Valley View tacked on another when pinch runner Gia Munley came around to score. Two more runs crossed in the fifth: a Cora Castellani RBI single and a Taylor Cawley solo home run to center.
Karwowski had a monster day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple and five total bases, while driving in two. Zoie Krupovich also collected three hits including a double. Moyles added two RBIs, and both Maggie Hallett and Cawley finished with two hits each. Cawley’s homer in the fifth capped the scoring for Valley View.
On the mound, Abbi Call earned the win, tossing 4.2 innings while allowing three hits and three runs (two earned), walking five and striking out three. Cawley was electric in relief, locking down the final 2.1 innings with six strikeouts, no walks, and just one hit allowed.
Wallenpaupack was held to four hits on the day, with right fielder S. Decker providing the only extra-base hit — a double in the third. Decker, C. Babyak, R. Anderson, and L. Babyak each had one hit. Mancino and Babyak recorded RBIs, while leadoff hitter M. Haynes showed plate discipline with three walks and a stolen base.
C. Babyak took the loss for Wallenpaupack, going the distance with six innings of work. She gave up 14 hits and nine runs (eight earned), walking two and striking out five on 105 pitches.
Valley View’s defense played a flawless game with no errors, while catcher Maggie Hallett was sharp behind the plate, handling nine chances cleanly. The Cougars improve to 12-4 and remain a top contender in the District 2 postseason race.
