In a back-and-forth battle between two determined 10U Little League softball teams, Jefferson edged out Mid Valley 4-2 in Sunday’s Section 5 matchup. Behind a stellar all-around performance from pitcher Anna T, Jefferson held off a late push from Mid Valley to remain in the tournament hunt.

Anna T was outstanding in the circle for Jefferson Township, going the distance with 6 innings of work. She struck out 15 batters, walked five, and allowed just five hits and two runs—only one of them earned—on 118 pitches, 72 of which were strikes. Her composure late in the game helped shut down Mid Valley’s scoring chances, including a key inning-ending strikeout in the fifth.

Offensively, Jefferson struck early with two runs in the top of the first. Emma N doubled and later scored, while Anna T added an RBI single to make it 2-0. Though Mid Valley answered with a run in the third, Jefferson tacked on insurance runs in the fourth and fifth to make it 4-1. Mid Valley trimmed the deficit to 4-2 in the fifth, but Jefferson’s defense held strong in the final frame.

Leading Jefferson’s offense was Arya A, who went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Anna T also went 2-for-2 and drove in a run, while Frankie N and Emma N each added a hit and an RBI. Jefferson totaled 7 hits as a team and swiped 8 total bases, with Arya A stealing three on her own.

For Mid Valley, Nora P delivered a valiant effort on both sides of the game. She went 2-for-3 at the plate and pitched 4 strong innings, striking out 10 while walking none. Adaline O also went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Quinn B added a hit and a stolen base. Emma F drew two walks and scored a run to help Mid Valley stay close.

Mid Valley showed discipline at the plate, drawing five total walks, and played clean defense with no errors. Brooke P was a standout behind the plate, recording 14 total plays, while the team also turned a sharp double play.

Despite the loss, Mid Valley’s effort was strong and well-rounded, especially given the quality of Jefferson’s pitching. Both teams showed impressive skill, sportsmanship, and poise in what was a well-played contest.
