Junior League East Regional Champs Head to Washington After Sweeping Championship Monday at Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, PA — Championship Monday at the 2025 Junior League Softball East Regional Tournament was packed with energy, pressure, and powerhouse performances. When the dust settled at Wilkes University, it was the Pennsylvania State Champions from Indiana Little League who stormed through with two commanding wins over Milford Little League (Delaware), punching their ticket to the Junior League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington.

Indiana, needing two wins after suffering an early-tournament loss to New Jersey, brought the bats and the arms — taking Game 1 in decisive fashion, 12-2, before wrapping it up with a 10-1 victory in the finale.

Game 1: Indiana Explodes in the Third to Force Winner-Take-All

It was a third-inning eruption that propelled Indiana to a run-rule win in the opener. Eight runs crossed the plate in the frame as Indiana capitalized on Milford miscues and piled on with clutch hits.

After opening the scoring in the second inning with an RBI single by Claire Brewer, Indiana went off in the third: an error plated two, followed by RBI knocks from Sophia Boyer, Samantha Martin, Sophia Thomas, Claire Brewer, and a sac fly by Evie Grantz.

Brewer led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate, while Boyer and Reese Mahaffey each worked two walks to spark scoring opportunities. Indiana worked seven total walks and turned in a clean double play defensively.

In the circle, Ella Worthington was steady and sharp — striking out six over five innings, allowing just three hits and two runs.

Milford, which entered the championship needing just one win to clinch the title, couldn’t recover from the third-inning storm. Bre Hall, Michaela Houdek, and Iianny Felix-Abad each collected a hit, with Hall driving in both of Milford’s runs.

Game 2: Boyer Blasts and Indiana Punches Its Ticket

With the championship on the line in the afternoon showdown, Indiana wasted no time jumping ahead — and Sophia Boyer made sure they stayed there.

Boyer had herself a day, going 3-for-3 with a double, single, and a towering solo home run to center in the fifth. Her bat helped cap off a 10-1 victory and deliver the regional crown to Indiana.

The Pennsylvania champs pounced early with a five-run first inning behind RBI hits from Ella Worthington, Samantha Martin, and Paisley Wolff, who drove in two. Worthington and Boyer added RBIs in the second, and Boyer’s home run in the fifth put an exclamation point on the effort.

Worthington, Boyer, and Leah Nelson all tallied three hits apiece. Indiana racked up 15 hits total and swiped seven bases without committing a single error.

Martin handled the bulk of the pitching, striking out seven over five strong innings. Mahaffey shut the door with two hitless innings in relief, striking out four.

Milford’s lone RBI came from Mia Scott, while Alysha Welch, Bayley Jo Messick, and Felix-Abad each recorded hits.
