In a commanding performance on the diamond, Hughesville rolled past Bucktail 12-2 in a lopsided softball matchup. The Spartans brought their bats to life early and often, racking up 12 hits while holding Bucktail to just four.

Both teams got on the board in the first inning with a run apiece, but Hughesville blew the game open in the second, plating seven runs and never looking back. The Spartans added two more runs in the fourth and another two in the sixth to seal the win. Bucktail managed to scratch across their second run in the sixth, but the deficit proved far too steep.

Leadoff hitter Ashlynn Barlett sparked Hughesville’s offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate with 3 RBIs and two runs scored. Ella Breneisen also had a standout performance, collecting three hits, driving in two runs, and scoring once. Maddie Smith was a force in the middle of the lineup, recording two hits, 2 RBIs, and crossing the plate four times.

Hughesville’s lineup showed power and speed, tallying one double and three triples on the day, keeping pressure on the Bucktail defense, which committed three costly errors.

In the circle, Breneisen also handled business, picking up the win with four strong innings of work. She struck out six Bucktail batters and kept the Lady Bucks off balance throughout her outing.

Bucktail struggled to generate momentum on both sides of the ball, and the early second-inning surge by Hughesville put them in a hole they couldn’t climb out of.

With this dominant performance, Hughesville continues to show they're a team to watch this season, firing on all cylinders with timely hitting, aggressive base running, and solid pitching.
