On Senior Night at Greater Nanticoke Area, the Trojans honored their four seniors: Olivia Cromer, Alivia Evans, Cecily Johnson, and Caitlyn Majiros. Despite the emotional backdrop, Holy Redeemer spoiled the celebration with a hard-fought 57-46 victory.
Holy Redeemer wasted no time asserting their dominance, opening the game on an 8-0 run within the first 3:15. Their aggressive start set the tone, and they cruised to a 14-4 lead by the end of the first quarter. Megan Albrecht (Post Game Interview) chipped in with three points, Isabella Boylan (#5) added four, and Tessa Cegelka knocked down a three-pointer to fuel the early surge.
In the second quarter, Greater Nanticoke Area found their rhythm, primarily by capitalizing on trips to the free-throw line. They shot 13 free throws in the quarter, steadily chipping away at the Lady Royals' lead. By the 4:36 mark, the score tightened to 18-13. However, Holy Redeemer responded with five straight points from Boylan, momentarily stretching the lead. GNA's persistence paid off as they closed the gap to 23-19 at halftime.
The third quarter saw Holy Redeemer regain control with a 9-2 run to start the period, showcasing their offensive versatility. Albrecht led the charge with seven points in the quarter, while McKenzie Chimoch added four. By the end of the third, the Lady Royals held a 41-29 advantage, outscoring GNA 18-10 in the frame.
Greater Nanticoke Area mounted a spirited comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to six points on two occasions (48-42 and 50-46). However, clutch free-throw shooting by Holy Redeemer, coupled with pivotal defensive plays, sealed the victory. Gillian Parsons delivered in the clutch with a steal, a block, and four crucial points down the stretch.
Megan Albrecht led all scorers with 20 points, shooting an impressive 8-of-12 from the field (66.7%) and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line (80%). Isabella Boylan contributed 11 points, hitting 4-of-8 field goals (50%) and 3-of-4 from the line (75%). McKenzie Chimoch added 10 points, going 4-of-7 from the field (57.1%) and a perfect 2-of-2 from the charity stripe (100%).
For Greater Nanticoke Area, Caitlyn Majiros showcased her senior leadership with 16 points, shooting 6-of-14 from the field (42.9%) and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line (66.7%). Kate Reed contributed 10 points, going 4-of-9 from the field (44.4%) and 2-of-4 from the line (50%).
