Scranton Prep 10, Selinsgrove 3 — PIAA 2A First Round
Scranton Prep didn’t just show up for the program’s first-ever PIAA state playoff game — they sent a message.
The Cavaliers clamped down defensively, shared the rock on offense, and dominated the faceoff X en route to a commanding 10-3 victory over Selinsgrove on Tuesday. With the win, Prep books its ticket to the PIAA Class 2A Quarterfinals this Saturday.
Brady Holmes fired in 3 goals and dished out an assist, while Mackey Lynett served as the offense’s engine, finishing with a game-high 8 points (2 goals, 6 assists). Colin McMullen and Jack Rully each found the net twice, and goalie Packy James anchored the back line with 12 saves.
The unsung MVP? The Cavaliers' faceoff unit, who went an eye-popping 15-for-16 at the X — allowing Prep to dictate the tempo and tilt the field all game long.
Selinsgrove managed to strike in spurts, getting goals from Nash Fordyce, Ben Bucher, and Quinton Davis, but couldn’t overcome Prep’s midfield depth and fast-paced transitions.
