SCRANTON – Jenna Hillebrand reached a career milestone while Scranton Prep secured its eighth consecutive Lackawanna League Division 1 championship, defeating Abington Heights 52-32 on Thursday night.
Hillebrand led all scorers with 16 points, marking the 1,000th of her career, while Maya Jenkins added 14 points, including a three-pointer. Bella Dennebaum contributed seven points, and Trinity Litts chipped in five, both knocking down a three-pointer to add to the team’s offensive strength.
Scranton Prep’s sharp shooting proved crucial, with the Classics sinking four three-pointers and dominating from the field with 21 total field goals compared to 12 by Abington Heights.
For Abington Heights, Emma Coleman led with 13 points, hitting one three-pointer, while Madeline Walsh scored 10 points, including two from beyond the arc. Maggie Coleman notched five points and broke Amber Jacobs' school record for career three-pointers, reaching 205 total.
Scranton Prep took control early, outscoring the Comets 24-10 in the first half and never looking back. A dominant 16-point fourth quarter sealed the victory, keeping the Classics undefeated in league play at 12-0 (19-1 overall).
