When the first quarter came to an end, it looked like me it was going to be a possible upset for Crestwood. Hazleton Area slammed the door on the upset by only allowing six total points in the second quarter. They led 40-24 at halftime en route to a 63-51 victory to win their second consecutive Wyoming Valley Conference Championship over Crestwood. Alexis Reimold had a game high 22 points and Kaitlyn Bindas added 15 for Hazleton Area.

The Cougars got started off with a 4-0 lead but four consecutive free throws by the Comets tied the game up at 4. Reimold scored five straight points to make it 9-4. Hazleton Area increased the lead to eight with a three pointer by Kayla Lagowy. Crestwood went on a 7-0 run to end the first quarter to trail 19-18. The Cougars went on a 22-2 run during the second quarter. The Comets scored the last four points of the quarter but Hazleton Area lead 40-24 at halftime.

The Cougars built their lead to as high as 22. Crestwood went on a 8-2 run to cut the lead down to 16. However, Hazleton Area led 53-38 at the end of the third quarter. The Comets cut the lead down to 11 with a 6-0 run but the Cougars cruised through the rest of the quarter to take the 63-51 victory over Crestwood to win back to back WVC Girls Championships.
