Dallas stayed hot on Monday afternoon, taking down Hazleton 8-3 behind a huge game from Sydney Haydu.

Haydu led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. She came through with hits in the first, fifth, and seventh innings to spark the Dallas lineup and keep the pressure on all game long.

Dallas wasted no time jumping ahead, as Carolyn Comitz ripped a double in the first inning to open the scoring. Emma Fostock added a groundout RBI in the second to push the lead to 2-0.

On the mound, Nina Barrouk was steady and strong, tossing a complete game. Barrouk scattered six hits across seven innings, allowing three runs while striking out nine and walking two.

Hazleton’s biggest moment came in the seventh inning when Isabella Boyle launched a solo home run to left field. But it was too little, too late as Dallas had already built a comfortable lead.

The Dallas offense finished with 13 hits on the day. Comitz and Lia Riley each drove in two runs, while Barrouk and Sophia Maier collected multiple hits of their own. Maier was a force on the bases as well, stealing three bags and leading a five-steal performance for Dallas.

Defensively, Dallas played a clean game without committing an error. Riley anchored the defense with 10 chances behind the plate.

For Hazleton, Olivia Williams and Nanci Major each turned in two-hit performances. Williams, Boyle, and Emme Zanolini accounted for Hazleton’s three RBIs, while the Cougars turned two double plays defensively.

Dallas will look to keep the momentum going when they host Pittston Area on Wednesday.
