EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. — Greater Wyoming Area delivered in all phases Saturday afternoon at 225 Church Street, powering past Kingston/Forty Fort 8-4 to claim the District 31 Minors (9-10) championship.

With the win, GWA advances to Sectional play, riding the momentum of timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and a standout performance on the mound.

GWA struck early, plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Francisco Ramiza got things rolling with an RBI single to bring home the game’s opening run, setting the tone for a consistent offensive effort.

They added insurance in the third inning when Christian Cavalieri knocked a single through the right side to make it 4-0.

Cavalieri wasn’t just a force at the plate — he was a difference-maker on the mound. The right-hander tossed 4.1 innings of shutout baseball, allowing just three hits while striking out seven and walking two. Dominic Giordano and Gavin Johnson finished things off in relief to secure the win.

GWA racked up 11 hits in the game. Bryce Bauman, Johnson, Cavalieri, and Carter Pacchioni all had two hits apiece, with Cavalieri and Pacchioni also driving in two runs each in the middle of the order.

KFF battled until the end, sparked by the bottom half of the lineup. Lucas Janov provided a clutch two-RBI knock in the fourth inning to trim the deficit, while Kolton Kosloski and Cash O’Connor both went 2-for-3 on the day to pace the offense.

Nicholas Space started on the mound for KFF and went five innings, striking out one while giving up eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits.

Despite the loss, Kingston/Forty Fort flashed plenty of talent and grit in a hard-fought championship effort. But Saturday belonged to GWA, who now takes the next step on their Little League journey with the District 31 banner in hand.

Let the Sectionals begin.
