MONTROSE, PA -- On Saturday, June 21st, Montrose was the place to be for football and hometown pride as former NFL standout and Montrose native Chris Snee returned to Susquehanna County to host a free youth football clinic—and he didn’t come empty-handed.
Nearly 100 eager young athletes, grades 2 through 8, took the field at Montrose Area High School for a day packed with energy, instruction, and inspiration. The event featured fundamental skills stations, position drills, and a live Q&A with the two-time Super Bowl Champion and four-time Pro Bowler.
With help from Coach George Petrak, an army of Varsity football players, the Montrose Football Booster Club, and a powerful lineup of community sponsors, the event came to life in a big way.
The clinic, supported by the New York Giants Foundation, capped off with a remarkable gesture: a $10,000 donation to the Montrose Jr. Meteors program and $5,000 to the Montrose Varsity Booster Club to assist with much-needed gear and support for the upcoming season.
“This isn’t just about football—it’s about reigniting a program that once inspired me,†Snee said during the clinic. “I want these kids to look up to these players like I did when I was their age. I've asked them all learn 2 players from todays camp, and when they come to games the older players can be good role models for the youth players in the program.â€
The weekend of momentum continues Sunday, June 22nd, at Tall Pines Players Club with the 1st Annual Montrose Football Golf Tournament, also headlined by Snee. The fundraiser features a shotgun start at 9:00 AM, raffles, auction items, entertainment, and a shot at a Polaris UTV with a hole-in-one. All proceeds go toward modernizing the Montrose football weight room and purchasing new equipment for the student-athletes.
