Fritz Dominates at Plate and on Mound as Wilkes-Barre Rolls Past Williamsport

Behind a standout performance from Nathan Fritz, Wilkes-Barre Area stormed back from an early deficit to defeat Williamsport 9-3 on Friday.
Fritz had a game to remember, going 3-for-4 with a home run, double, and single while driving in four runs. He also picked up the win on the mound, tossing 5.2 innings, giving up three earned runs on nine hits, striking out four, and walking four. Alex Hufford closed the game, working 1.1 innings in relief, allowing just one hit and one walk.
The Millionaires jumped ahead in the third inning with three runs, sparked by a two-RBI single from Wyatt Bair and a sacrifice fly from Giovanni White. But the Wolfpack responded in the fourth, tying the game with contributions from Fritz, Tyler Daugherty, and Dalton Flowers.
Jake Howe gave Wilkes-Barre the lead in the fifth with a three-run double, and Fritz followed in the sixth with a two-run homer to put the game out of reach. Howe finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Flowers added two hits. Hufford also had a strong day at the plate, going 3-for-4.
Jacob Chupka collected two hits, and James Bottger added another to round out the Wolfpack’s 15-hit effort. Koleton Davies crossed the plate twice despite not recording a hit, and Omar Jerez chipped in with a single and a run scored.
Williamsport had 10 hits on the day. Christian Franzen led the way with two hits and a run scored, while Grant Vilello, Deshaun White, and Giovanni White also posted multi-hit games. Starting pitcher Cole Deitrick took the loss, allowing four runs over 4.2 innings, with Bair pitching the final 2.1 innings in relief.
With the win, Wilkes-Barre Area continues its strong late-season surge, having now won six of its last eight contests.
