Lake-Lehman bounced back in a big way on Saturday, overpowering Honesdale 9-1 behind a complete team performance and a masterful showing on the mound from Sam Finarelli.
The Black Knights wasted no time, jumping out to a 3-1 lead after the first inning and never looking back. Finarelli did it all — going 2-for-3 at the plate with 3 RBIs while also throwing 4 strong innings on the mound, striking out four and allowing just two hits and one unearned run.
Lake-Lehman continued to pile on, scoring in four of the first six innings. Connor Smigielski also had a standout day, tallying two hits and driving in three runs, while Chris Sholtis added two hits and an RBI of his own. Will Jenkins crossed the plate three times and picked up two hits, keeping the offensive pressure steady all afternoon.
Jake Naugle came in to close things down, firing three hitless innings and fanning five to seal the win and secure the combined two-hitter for the pitching staff.
For Honesdale, Nick Martin drove in the Hornets’ only run with a second-inning RBI single, but the offense struggled to find rhythm against Lake-Lehman’s steady pitching.
With the win, Lake-Lehman continues their strong campaign, while Honesdale looks to regroup after a tough road loss.
