Fast Start, Firm Finish: Pittston Area Girls Basketball Powers Past Wyoming Area to Reach Title Game

OLD FORGE — The Pittston Area girls basketball team surged past Wyoming Area, 52–28, on Saturday, December 27, at Old Forge to advance to the championship game of the Anthony D. Badger Marseco Memorial Tournament. The Patriots set the tone early, racing out to a 15–0 lead after the first quarter and carrying a 29–10 advantage into halftime.


Wyoming Area struggled to generate offense in the opening frame, committing eight turnovers in the first quarter as Pittston Area controlled the tempo on both ends of the floor. The Patriots continued to build their lead through the middle quarters, outscoring the Warriors in each of the first three periods and keeping the game firmly in hand entering the fourth.


Julia Long led Pittston Area with 14 points, while Leah Drozginski added 12 in the win. Wyoming Area was led by Jalynn Park, who finished with a game-high 16 points and five rebounds, and Londyn Sobeck added 11 points and eight rebounds.
