DIMOCK, Pa. — Elk Lake earned a 41–40 victory over Montrose on Sunday at the Reddin-Hoffman Christmas Tournament in a tightly contested girls basketball matchup.
Senior Madisyn Casselbury and senior Kylie Shingler each scored 15 points for Elk Lake in the win. Casselbury was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, while Shingler earned all-tournament team honors.
The game remained close throughout, with Montrose holding an 18–12 advantage after the first quarter. Elk Lake responded over the next three quarters and pulled ahead late to secure the one-point victory.
Elk Lake finished with 14 field goals and went 11-for-18 from the free-throw line. Montrose connected on seven three-point field goals to stay within striking distance until the final horn.
For Montrose, Sadie Jones scored a game-high 17 points and was named to the all-tournament team.
With the win, Elk Lake improved to 3–4 on the season, while Montrose fell to 3–6.
