STROUDSBURG, Pa. – In one of the most intense and hard-fought games of the season, Dunmore secured a dramatic 65-59 double-overtime victory over Notre Dame Green Pond in the second round of the PIAA Class 3A state playoffs Tuesday night at Stroudsburg High School.

Senior point guard Sophia Talutto led the way for the Lady Bucks, scoring a game-high 29 points, including 10 in the second overtime, to propel her team to victory. Talutto’s ability to step up in the clutch proved to be the difference, as she converted two key three-point plays in the final overtime period to help Dunmore pull away.

The game opened with both teams displaying strong offensive execution. Notre Dame Green Pond got off to a quick start, sinking 11 three-pointers throughout the game, with Brenna Hammerstone leading the way with six from beyond the arc on her way to an 18-point performance. Despite that, Dunmore held a slight edge after the first quarter, leading 21-20.

The second quarter saw a significant defensive shift, as Dunmore managed only four points, allowing Notre Dame Green Pond to take a 31-25 halftime lead. The Lady Bucks responded in the third quarter with a stronger effort on both ends of the floor, led by Amanda Dempsey, who finished with 14 points, and Leena Conte, who added nine.

Regulation remained tight, with both teams battling through a low-scoring fourth quarter that ended in a tie, forcing overtime. After an evenly matched first extra period, Talutto took over in the second, scoring 10 of Dunmore’s 16 points to help secure the win.

Notre Dame Green Pond received strong contributions from Ella Schweitzer, who scored 13 points, and Emily Lessig, who added 12. However, their efforts were not enough to overcome Dunmore’s late-game execution and defensive pressure.

With the victory, Dunmore advances to the quarterfinal round of the PIAA state tournament for the fourth time in the last six seasons (2020, 2022, 2023, 2025). The Lady Bucks will face the Loyalsock Township Lady Lancers (27-2) on Friday, March 14, with the time and location to be determined.
