DUNMORE — The Dunmore Varsity Bucks punched their ticket to the District II Class 3A championship game in emphatic fashion, cruising past Montrose 15-0 in just four innings on Thursday.

Mason Stets was locked in from the start, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, and two RBIs. The senior shortstop helped spark a five-run first inning and later delivered a key two-run double in a nine-run fourth to break the game wide open.

Evan Mizenko turned in a monster day at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with a double and a game-high five RBIs. He drove in two in the first with a double, one more with a second-inning single, and capped off the day with another two-run hit in the fourth.

Matt Iezzi added power to the Bucks’ early outburst, blasting a two-run homer in the first and finishing with three RBIs. Anthony Yerka chipped in with a 1-for-3 day, scoring once and driving in two. Jackson Cady and Jamie McMynne each drew bases-loaded walks in the fourth.

Dunmore finished with eight hits and 10 walks as a team while swiping six stolen bases. M Forgione, Yerka, Cady, Kura, Stets, and Mizenko all added to the theft count on the bases.

On the mound, Max Forgione was in full control. The right-hander tossed a complete-game four-inning shutout, allowing just three hits while striking out seven and walking one. He faced only 15 batters and threw 64 pitches, 48 for strikes.

Montrose struggled offensively against Forgione’s command. A. Sorensen had two of the team’s three hits and also stole a base. C. McGee added the other hit, but the Meteors left runners stranded in each of the first two innings.

A. Sorensen was charged with the loss after surrendering 10 runs (9 earned) on five hits in 3.2 innings, walking seven and striking out six. Reliever C. Harman allowed five more runs without recording an out.

With the win, Dunmore advances to the District II Class 3A final.
