CARBONDALE, PA – District 2 high school baseball is officially underway, and the Dunmore Bucks wasted no time making a statement. In their season opener on the road, the Bucks exploded offensively and overpowered Carbondale Area, securing a commanding 23-2 victory in just four innings on Thursday.
After falling behind early, Dunmore quickly flipped the script with a jaw-dropping 10-run second inning that broke the game wide open. Sophomore standout Evan Mizenko set the tone, going 4-for-5 with 6 RBIs, including a crucial bases-clearing triple that ignited the Bucks' scoring frenzy.
On the mound, Mason Stets delivered a strong season debut, pitching a complete game with 6 strikeouts, keeping Carbondale’s bats in check and preserving the early lead.
It was a complete team effort for Dunmore, with contributions up and down the lineup showcasing the depth and chemistry of this year’s squad.

Dunmore's early success sets the tone for what could be a promising season. The Bucks will look to keep the momentum rolling as they face West Scranton on Saturday, March 22nd, at Schautz Memorial Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
Carbondale Area will regroup and look to bounce back in front of their home crowd. The Chargers will host Lakeland on Monday, with first pitch at 4:30 PM, aiming to notch their first win of the season.
