District 2’s own Dominic DeLuca continues to inspire on and off the field. DeLuca, a Wyoming Area High School legend, is known for his incredible perseverance — most famously for leading his team to a Pennsylvania state championship victory even after tearing his ACL mid-game. After high school, he went on to walk on at Penn State, earned a scholarship through his determination and performance, and rose to become a team captain, proudly wearing Penn State’s prestigious number zero jersey.
Now, DeLuca is giving back to the community in a big way. He is organizing the second annual Team DeLuca Ventures, LLC Zero In Charity Golf Tournament, which will be held on July 1 at Fox Hill Country Club in Exeter. One of the highlights of the tournament is the opportunity to bid for a chance to play alongside select Penn State football players during the event.
This year’s tournament will benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Northeast Region, which provides year-round sports programming, training, and competition opportunities for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Luzerne, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Pike Counties. The programs offered by SOPA’s Northeast Region come at no cost to athletes or their families, making events like this tournament critical for funding these inclusive opportunities.
Dominic DeLuca’s commitment to using his platform to empower others is yet another example of the leadership and resilience that have made him a hometown hero. His dedication to Special Olympics Pennsylvania through this charity event will create lasting positive impact for athletes across the region.
