If Week 1 served as a wake-up call, Week 2 shook the very foundation of the District IV football landscape. While some teams solidified their places, others saw their early momentum derailed—and new contenders have stormed into the spotlight.
Let’s break down the Coach's Health and Fitness District IV Rankings and how they’ve shifted after Week 2 action.
SMALL SCHOOLS (Class A, AA, AAA)
The Defenders continue their meteoric rise. After climbing six spots last week, Warrior Run jumps two more to claim the top spot. Their combination of physicality, discipline, and momentum is undeniable right now.
No movement for the Warriors, but that’s not a bad thing. Montoursville continues to look strong and remains in prime position to challenge for #1. A Week 3 showdown could be on the horizon.
The reigning champs slide two spots after an underwhelming Week 2 performance. Still very much in the title picture, but Troy showed they’re not untouchable.
No change here. The Tigers continue to tread water—but with their pedigree, it’s likely only a matter of time before they roar back into the top 3.
The Panthers are proving Week 1 was no fluke. Another big win has them climbing two more spots. This team is hungry and playing with a chip on their shoulder.
Two wins, two jumps in the rankings. Mifflinburg’s balanced attack is clicking, and they’re proving to be one of the season’s early surprises.
The Eagles continue their rise, climbing three spots after another gritty win. Defense is leading the way for a team that refuses to back down.
Welcome to the rankings. North Penn-Mansfield enters the top 10 thanks to a strong Week 2 performance, showcasing a stingy defense and smart play-calling.
Another new face in the mix. Muncy slides into the rankings after a decisive victory. A proven program that’s gaining steam.
Canton tumbles four spots after a tough loss. Still in the mix, but they’ll need to tighten things up if they want to climb back toward the top.
Dropped Out:
Danville (Last Week: #5)
Mount Carmel (Last Week: #9)
No surprise here. Shamokin remains the top dog after another dominant performance. They’ve looked like a complete team through two weeks.
Still in hot pursuit. The Bulldogs keep the pressure on and are showing no signs of slowing down.
No movement here either. The Millionaires are playing fast, smart, and physical. A big win could vault them higher soon.
Athens holds steady after another gritty outing. They may not be flashy, but they’re doing the little things right—and it’s paying off.
The Braves crack the top five for the first time this season, taking the spot from Selinsgrove. A key victory has them trending in the right direction.
Dropped Out:
Selinsgrove (Last Week: #5)
Week 2 was a statement week.
Warrior Run's rise to #1 marks a dramatic shift in the small-school pecking order, while perennial powers like Troy and Canton have stumbled slightly. New names like North Penn-Mansfield and Muncy are adding fresh intrigue to the playoff picture.
On the large-school side, Shamokin remains the team to beat, but don’t count out Jersey Shore or Williamsport, both of whom are showing signs of a title run.
As the calendar flips to September and the games grow more intense, one thing is clear: in District IV, every Friday night is up for grabs.
Stay tuned next week for more movement, more highlights, and more drama—brought to you by Coach's Health and Fitness, where champions are built.
