District IV Football Preseason Rankings: Small & Large School Breakdown

SMALL SCHOOLS (Classes A, AA, AAA)

Leading the charge at #1 is none other than Troy—the reigning state champions. With a strong core of returning talent, they’re poised to defend their title and continue their dominance this fall.

Hot on their heels at #2 are the Danville Ironmen. Under the leadership of Coach Carl Majer, Danville has built a powerhouse program and remains a perennial contender.

Coming in at #3 is the legendary Mount Carmel—the winningest high school football program in Pennsylvania history. With more all-time victories than any other school, tradition and toughness run deep in Red Tornado territory.

At #4, we find the multi-time state champion Southern Columbia Tigers, led by the iconic Coach Jim Roth. While last season was considered a down year by their lofty standards, expect the Tigers to come roaring back in 2025.

#5 goes to Muncy, a Single A juggernaut that just keeps winning—racking up district titles and making deep playoff runs year after year.

#6 is Lewisburg, fresh off a fantastic 2024 season and ready to prove they’re here to stay.

At #7, Canton continues to impress with its gritty and consistent small-school program.

#8 is Montoursville, a team that's always in the playoff mix and never to be taken lightly.

#9 is Warrior Run, and #10 belongs to the ever-consistent Loyalsock, a program known for quality play and postseason appearances.

LARGE SCHOOLS (Class AAAA and Above)

District IV features just five large-school programs, but they pack plenty of punch.

Kicking things off at #1 is Shamokin, led by Head Coach Mark Persing. With a core of returning stars from their breakout 2024 campaign, the Indians are expected to be a major force this season.

Right behind them at #2 is Jersey Shore—a tough, physical team known for their speed and relentless play. They’re never out of the picture.

Coming in at #3 is Selinsgrove, a team with its sights set on climbing the ranks and making a deep run this year.

At #4 sits Williamsport, a program that consistently produces top-tier athletes and dynamic playmakers.

Rounding out the large-school list at #5 is Athens, looking to make noise and turn heads as the season gets underway.

District IV football is loaded with talent and tradition from top to bottom. Whether it’s the returning champs or hungry underdogs, this season promises plenty of fireworks on Friday nights. Buckle up.
