District 2 Holiday Basketball Tournaments Tip Off Today

The holiday basketball season officially gets underway today across District 2, with multiple tournaments and nonleague matchups filling gymnasiums throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Boys and girls programs alike will open tournament play with a full slate of games scheduled from late afternoon into the evening.
Boys Basketball
Peter Turonis / NBT Bank Holiday Classic
Valley View meets Lakeland at 5:00 p.m., followed by Mid Valley traveling to Carbondale Area for a 6:30 p.m. tip.
Honesdale Jaycees Tournament
Wallenpaupack faces East Stroudsburg South at 6:30 p.m., with host Honesdale welcoming Western Wayne at 8:00 p.m.
Marion Catholic Christmas Tournament
MMI Prep visits Marian Catholic for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
Girls Basketball
Taylor Lions Tournament
Lackawanna Trail takes on North Pocono at 6:00 p.m., while West Scranton visits Riverside for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.
Honesdale Jaycees Tournament
Western Wayne and Wallenpaupack open play at 5:45 p.m., followed by Forest City against Honesdale at 7:15 p.m.
With tournaments running throughout the holiday break, today’s games mark the start of a busy stretch of high-energy basketball across District 2 and the surrounding areas.
