District 2 Girls Basketball Teams Set to Battle in PIAA State Playoff Opener

District 2 girls' basketball teams are set to begin their state tournament journeys this weekend, with first-round games scheduled for Friday and Saturday. With strong representation across multiple classifications, these teams will aim to make deep playoff runs.

Class 2A

Both Canton at Mountain View and Elk Lake at Muncy will take place on Friday night at 7:00 PM, as District 2 looks to make an impact in Class 2A action.

Class 3A

Friday’s Class 3A matchups feature Holy Redeemer taking on Hughesville at a neutral site (Williamsport High School) at 7:00 PM. Meanwhile, Dunmore will host Mount Carmel, also tipping off at 7:00 PM.

Class 4A

In Class 4A, Valley View will travel to Palmerton for a Saturday afternoon matchup at 1:00 PM, while Scranton Prep will host Delone Catholic in a 4:00 PM game later that day.

Class 5A

The Class 5A bracket will see Crestwood hosting Manheim Central on Saturday at 2:00 PM. Dallas will also be in action, facing Villa Maria Academy in a neutral-site battle at Wissahickon High School at 3:30 PM.

Class 6A

In Class 6A, two District 2 teams will be in action Friday at 7:00 PM. Hazleton Area will host Cheltenham, while Scranton will also enjoy home-court advantage against Central Dauphin.
