District 2 Football: Week 6 Recap

North Pocono 35, Dallas 14

North Pocono improved to 6-0 thanks to a three touchdown performance from running back Joe Briskie. The defense also played lights out, not allowing a touchdown until the fourth quarter. 


Lakeland 28, Dunmore 14

Lakeland now sits as the No. 1 seed in the 2A playoffs after knocking off the reigning district champs and now the runners-up. Quarterback David Naniewicz was the star for the Chiefs, rushing for three touchdowns.  


Berwick 35, Wyoming Area 13

Berwick now holds the No. 1 seed both in the WVC Division 2 and in the 3A bracket. Ty’Meere Wilkerson rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Wilkerson leads the district in both rushing yards with 1,354 and rushing touchdowns with 19. 


Pittston Area 47, Crestwood 14

The Patriots put this one away early, scoring 40 points in the first half. Lucas LoPresto and Brody Spindler lead a deadly rushing attack, with LoPresto rushing for 97 yards and three touchdowns. Spindler added a touchdown of his own and also recorded an interception.


Wilkes-Barre 35, Hazleton 21

The Wolfpack had one of their best defensive showings of the year as they only allowed six points through three quarters. Quarterback Jake Howe was impressive, going 20-27 for 213 yards and two touchdowns.


Scranton Prep 37, Wallenpaupack 0

Scranton Prep has won three straight, scoring over 35 points in all those wins. Will McPartland was the star once again, passing for two touchdowns and rushing for one more. The Cavaliers are getting hot at the right time, with games against Abington Heights, Jersey Shore and North Pocono looming large. 


Hanover Area 42, Tunkhannock 0

Hanover Area’s defense pitched their third shutout of the year. The Hawkeyes still have one of the most fun offenses in the area led by quarterback Logan Richardson and running back Dewayne Downey. Both players accounted for all six Hawkeye scores.


Lake-Lehman 42, Nanticoke 0

The Black Knights won their second straight game in dominant fashion to get back to .500. Chris Yetter and Jaydon Skipalis combined for 276 yards and both rushed for two touchdowns.


Valley View 28, Scranton 0

Valley View continued their streak of defensive dominance as they held their opposition to under ten points for the third straight game. Quarterback Caleb Brown threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns, 110 of those yards and both touchdowns went to receiver Gabe Davis. 


Carbondale 40, Montrose 0

Carbondale won its division opener and will now prepare to host the reigning division champions in Lackawanna Trail. Francisco Roman paced the Chargers with 95 rushing yards and three touchdowns. 


Mid Valley 28, West Scranton 7

Mid Valley improved to 3-3 on the year but also to 2-0 in division play. Jake Bondy only had three carries for 12 yards, but two of those carries went for touchdowns. The Spartans have a massive division game on Friday at Dunmore.


Honesdale 36, Western Wayne 0

Honesdale finally broke its four game losing streak with a big win over a division rival. Gabe Duda exploded for his biggest game of the year, rushing for 221 yards and four scores. 


Holy Cross 44, Holy Redeemer 38

 The Holy War went the way of Holy Cross thanks to a 346 yard, five touchdown game from running back Kevin Vincent. Holy Redeemer quarterback Brady McDermott put on an air show, throwing for 382 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions.      


Riverside 55, Susquehanna 7

After starting 2-1 with two one score wins, the Vikings have outscored their last three opponents 164-20. Brayden Rose passed for four touchdowns, two of which went to star receiver Carmelo Barnett. 


Delaware Valley 28, Abington Heights 14

Delaware Valley has now won two straight and beat Abington Heights for the first time since the 2023 5A District Championship Game. Running back Mike Iuzzolino ran for 178 yards and two scores for the Warriors, and the Comets struggled without star quarterback Nick Bradley, who was out with injury. 


Executive Education 35, Wyoming Valley West 26

Wyoming Valley West has taken steps forward on offense this year, with quarterback Damien Eastman showing promise. He passed for 353 yards and four touchdowns. 


Lackawanna Trail 38, Old Forge 20

Lackawanna Trail won this rivalry game for the fifth straight time thanks to a three touchdown game from Isaac Ryon. Ryon had nine carries for 96 yards and two scores and caught his third on a 58 yard pass from quarterback Tyler Jervis.
