District 2 Football: Week 3 Recap

Pocono Mountain East 45, Scranton 0

The Knights suffer another tough non-district loss. The offense failed to launch and the defense gave up a season high in points. 


Central York 46, Delaware Valley 21

Delaware Valley continued a tough non-district stretch and dropped to 0-3 for the fifth straight season. Colin McGarvey had a solid game with two touchdown passes for the Warriors.


Berwick 33, Lackawanna Trail 12

Berwick keeps up their undefeated season with a statement win over a small school powerhouse. Ty’Meere Wilkerson rushed for 237 yards and three touchdowns. 


Lakeland 33, Riverside 23

Lakeland picked up a massive win in a game that could be a playoff preview. The Chiefs had four different players score rushing touchdowns. 


North Pocono 48, Wyoming Valley West 0

North Pocono continued their undefeated season off the back of a 28 point first quarter. Josiah Gray led the offense with two rushing touchdowns.


Crestwood 46, Tunkhannock 7

Crestwood picked up their first win of the season and the defense pitched a shutout until the fourth quarter. Jaden Shedlock had 144 all purpose yards and three total touchdowns.  


Mid Valley 42, Old Forge 0

Mid Valley got win number one in a game they desperately needed. Quarterback Brett Yanoski and running back Mason Vinansky combined for five of the Spartans six touchdowns.


Dunmore 50, Susquehanna 0

Dunmore ran the ball to victory and secured their first shutout of the year. Quarterback Weston Yannone scored a rushing touchdown against his old team.


Pittston 48, Nanticoke 13

Pittston continued their offensive dominance, scoring over 40 points for the second time in three games. Kayden Bailey spearheaded the offense with two rushing touchdowns and 144 yards on the ground.   


Wallenpaupack 37, Honesdale 6

Wallenpaupack rode the ground game for the second straight week to a win. Logan Caruso and Ed Kiesendahl both ran for over 100 yards and two touchdowns.


Lake-Lehman 59, Northwest 0

Lake-Lehman picked up their first win of the year in shutout fashion. Anthony Magnotta was the headliner, scoring three rushing touchdowns. 


Wyoming Area 50, Western Wayne 0

Wyoming Area picked up their biggest victory of the season. Jack Garvine passed for two touchdowns and rushed for two more. 


Wilkes-Barre 16, Valley View 14

It was a defensive battle in Archibald, where the Wolfpack picked up a statement win against the undefeated Cougars. A fourth down stop proved to be the difference in a battle between two stop tier squads in District Two.  


Hazleton 40, West Scranton 0

Hazleton picked up their first win of the Scott Sacco era. Xavier Heck had a massive night with 224 rushing yards and three touchdowns.


Columbia-Montour Vo Tech 38, Montrose 12

Montrose was unable to continue their momentum from a big win last week. Sawyer Aukema had a standout performance, rushing for 118 yards and a touchdown.


Hanover Area 47, Holy Cross 0

Hanover’s high speed offense was unstoppable in their win. Dewayne Downey and Logan Richardson both had two touchdowns. 


Canisius 41, Scranton Prep 28

Scranton Prep had their best performance of the season in a tough loss to a really good team. Oliver Swingle had a nice game for the Cavaliers, throwing for 197 yards and two touchdowns.


Abington Heights 40, Dallas 28

Abington Heights continued their string of offensive masterclasses with a big non-conference win. Jayden Anglin and Nick Bradley put on a show, combining for four touchdowns.


Carbondale 47, Holy Redeemer 13

Carbondale won their second straight game, scoring over thirty points once again. The Chargers had five rushing touchdowns in the game.
