District 2 Football: Week 2 Recap

Jersey Shore 49, Delaware Valley 42

Jersey Shore won their second straight game over a District Two squad. The Warriors made it close with two fourth quarter touchdowns from Trey Newton and Justin Estevez.


Loyola Blakefield (MD) 45, Scranton Prep 13

Scranton Prep was simply overwhelmed in a loss to a talented squad from Maryland. Oliver Swingle scored a rushing touchdown for the Cavaliers.


Shamokin 49, Lake-Lehman 7

Lake-Lehman struggled against a strong Shamokin team, as the offense was shutout until the fourth quarter. Chris Yetter scored the only touchdown for the Black Knights. 


Riverside 34, Hanover Area 31

Riverside once again wins by a field goal. They came back with 12 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.


Lakeland 53, Holy Cross 6

Lakeland’s offense looks like one of the best in the area, scoring over 50 points for the second straight week. Rocco Spataro threw for one touchdown and scored two more on the ground. 


Tunkhannock 55, Holy Redeemer 7

Tunkhannock played a complete game in their win over Holy Redeemer. Lucas Ciprich rushed for over 200 yards and three touchdowns.


Pocono Mountain East 28, Honesdale 7

Honesdale fell to a non-district opponent to drop to 1-1. Damian Davis scored the only touchdown for the Hornets.


Abington Heights 37, West Scranton 10

Abington Heights advanced to 2-0 with an offense that looked like their district championship winning squad from last year. Gavin Anders caught three touchdowns in the win.


Williamsport 28, Hazleton 7

Williamsport picked up a win over a WVC Division One team for a second straight week. Giovanni White once again led the way with three rushing touchdowns. 


Valley View 24, Crestwood 13

Valley View once again used their dominant defense to shut down a high powered offense for the second straight week. Jeffery Wasilchak paced the offense with two rushing scores.  


Wallenpaupack 41, East Stroudsburg North 6

The Buckhorns used a balanced rushing attack to get their first win in 2025. Ed Kiesendahl and Logan Caruso both had two touchdowns on the ground. 


Scranton 45, Wyoming Valley West 7

Scranton picked up their first win of the season in dominant fashion. Reece Whitman had four rushing scores for the Knights. 


Dunmore 45, Old Forge 7

Dunmore rebounded after a heartbreaking loss with a strong win over a historic rival. Ryan Mecca paced the Bucks with 134 rushing yards and two touchdowns on three carries.


Lackawanna Trail 35, Western Wayne 3

Lackawanna Trail looked like the team everyone expected them to in a dominant victory. Isaac Ryon rushed for 190 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. 


Wilkes-Barre Area 48, Stroudsburg 42 (OT)

The Wolfpack pulled out a much-needed victory in a game where defense was optional. Davon Underwood scored the game winning touchdown on the ground. 


Berwick 42, Mid Valley 0

The Bulldogs defense continues to look like one of the best in the district. Ty’Meere Wilkerson was the headliner on offense once again with three rushing touchdowns.


North Pocono 34, Pittston Area 21

The Trojans went on the road to pull out a gritty road win that will pay dividends in the playoffs. Cole West and Chase Zimmerman both rushed for two touchdowns and connected for a passing score as well. 


Wyoming Area 27, Dallas 20

The Warriors win a huge WVC clash on the road. Jack Garvine connected with Ben Garvine for the game-winning touchdown.


Carbondale 37, Nanticoke 2

The Chargers pitched a shutout on defense for their first win of the season. Cole Becchetti threw for over 100 yards and three touchdowns.


Montrose 20, Susquehanna 14

The Meteors won the Battle for the Bluestone in a close matchup. The win marks their first in the series since 2015.
