Williamsport 31, Wyoming Valley West 20
A 300+ yard passing day from Spartans quarterback Damien Eastman was not enough to snap a now 21 game losing streak. The Millionaires picked off four passes and Giovanni White led the way with a rushing, receiving and punt return touchdown.
Whitehall 38, Wilkes-Barre Area 14
Wilkes-Barre Area struggled in the second half, giving up 21 points and being held scoreless. They also allowed over 200 yards on the ground.
Stroudsburg 28, Wallenpaupack 7
Wallenpaupack struggled to get their offense going, as their quarterbacks went 4/15 passing. Ryan Vargo scored the Buckhorns only touchdown.
Western Wayne 32, Susquehanna 0
The Wildcats' new pieces looked cohesive in their win. A complete game from start to finish highlighted by their typical physical and imposing defense pitching a shutout.
Valley View 14, Scranton Prep 10
Valley View takes down their rivals in the opener thanks to a stellar defensive performance. The Cougars shut out the Cavaliers in the second half.
Pocono Mountain West 38, Scranton 19
Scranton was unable to stop the run in their season opener. The Knights allowed three scores on the ground and gave up over 200 rushing yards.
West Scranton 20, Old Forge 7
West Scranton wins their first game since October of 2023. Kaz Colbert was the difference maker for the Invaders with the game winning touchdown on a pick six.
Pittston Area 46, Mid Valley 9
Pittston opened the Paul Russick era with an upset win over an LFC contender. Lucas LoPresto and Stephen Barnic both scored two touchdowns for the Patriots.
Lackawanna Trail 35, Tunkhannock 21
The reigning division and district champions kicked off their season with a competitive win over Tunkhannock. Isaac Ryon accounted for four of the five Lions touchdowns, and Andrew Lupinski scored all three touchdowns for the Tigers.
Honesdale 19, East Stroudsburg-North 9
Honesdale went old school with a ground and pound offense to grind out a week one win. Kobe White scored all three Hornets touchdowns.
Holy Cross 32, Montrose 6
Holy Cross looked balanced in their opening win, scoring three touchdowns on the ground and two through the air. Aiden Wudarski had three scores to lead the Crusaders.
Nazareth 46, Hazleton Area 7
The Cougars had a tough task, trying to stop Auburn commit Peyton Falzone. Falzone threw for three touchdowns and added another score with his legs in a rout.
Marian Catholic 42, Hanover Area 24
It was a solid outing for Hanover quarterback Logan Richardson, who threw for two touchdowns and no picks. The Hawkeyes defense was unable to stop the run game, allowing Rory Dixon to rush for over 220 yards and four touchdowns.
North Pocono 56, Nanticoke 0
North Pocono made a statement in their opening win, they are here to compete for titles. Seven different players found the end zone for the Trojans.
Riverside 17, Dunmore 14 (OT)
In a potential AAA Championship preview, the Vikings outlasted the Bucks on the road. New Vikings quarterback Brayden Rose accounted for both Vikings touchdowns, and all-district kicker Santino D’Amico won it for Riverside with a field goal.
Jersey Shore 27, Dallas 7
Jersey Shore picked up a big time non-district win to open the season. Dallas had no answer for Bulldogs QB Nolen Pauling, who ran for two scores and passed for two more.
Wyoming Area 24, Crestwood 21
This was a competitive back-and-forth contest between two perennial WVC contenders. A Gavin Feeney field goal ended up being the difference for a Warriors win.
Lakeland 52, Carbondale 14
Lakeland rode a balanced attack for a massive week one win. The Chiefs had six different players account for at least one touchdown.
Berwick 24, Lake-Lehman 7
Berwick gets their revenge after losing to Lake-Lehman in the season opener last year. Ty’Meere Wilkerson was the star of the game, rushing for over 120 yards and two touchdowns.
Abington Heights 21, East Stroudsburg-South 13
Abington Heights went on the road and picked up a strong, non-district win. Running back Jayden Anglin found paydirt twice for the Comets.
Nativity BVM 36, Holy Redeemer 0
Nativity handled business in a non-district season opening win. The Royals could not muster any momentum on offense as they were shutout by the Green Wave for the second straight year.
McKeesport 51, Delaware Valley 24
This was the typical tough non-district opener for the Warriors that will help them come playoff time. They had a hard time stopping Penn State commit Kemon Spell, who scored five touchdowns.
