With just a few regular-season matches remaining, the District 2 boys soccer landscape is taking shape. Power programs like Lake-Lehman, Abington Heights, and Wyoming Seminary have built resumes worthy of top seeds, while several others are peaking at the right time. Here’s how each classification stacks up heading into playoff week.

Class 1A

Top Contenders: Wyoming Seminary (11-5), Mountain View (12-3), Holy Redeemer (10-7-1), Old Forge (9-5-1)

Wyoming Seminary opened the season with a 4-0 win over Mountain View on August 25—a result that still defines the top of this bracket. Since then, the Blue Knights have mixed strong stretches with close losses, including 2-1 and 3-2 defeats to Lake-Lehman, but remain battle-tested after an eight-win conference campaign.

Mountain View has answered back with steady improvement and a run of clean sheets in league play, keeping pace near the top. Holy Redeemer owns a 2-1 victory over Seminary and has the ability to grind out results against any opponent, while Old Forge’s balanced lineup and cross-class success (tight 1-0 loss to Dallas, 2-1 loss to Riverside) make them a legitimate dark horse.

Expect another 1A tournament decided by fine margins, with the defending power Seminary and Mountain View again on a collision course.

Class 2A

Top Contenders: Lake-Lehman (16-1), Tunkhannock (13-3), Dunmore (14-4), Riverside (13-2)

Lake-Lehman has been the class of 2A. The Black Knights’ only blemish came in August against 4A Wyoming Valley West (3-2 loss). Since then, they’ve rolled through nearly every contender—4-1 over Holy Redeemer, 2-0 over Tunkhannock, and 2-1 over Wyoming Seminary—behind a deep, experienced core.

Tunkhannock has built a strong resume of its own, including a 2-1 road win over Wyoming Seminary, while Dunmore adds a defensive punch highlighted by a 1-0 upset win at Dallas on October 11. Riverside’s attack remains one of the most explosive in the bracket, with early-season results like a 4-0 win at Holy Redeemer.

All signs point to Lake-Lehman as the favorite, but Tunkhannock’s pace and Dunmore’s organization give this field real upset potential.

Class 3A

Top Contenders: Abington Heights (13-3), North Pocono (13-3-1), Dallas (10-6), Wallenpaupack (9-7-1)

Abington Heights has separated itself with a dominant October stretch: 6-2 over Delaware Valley, 13-0 at Honesdale, and 2-0 at North Pocono. The Comets’ depth and efficiency in front of goal make them the clear 3A favorite.

North Pocono remains close behind after a consistent campaign, earning quality wins over Scranton and Wallenpaupack. Dallas has shown flashes—beating Wyoming Valley West 3-1 before falling to Hazleton Area and Dunmore—while Wallenpaupack continues to grind through a tough conference slate despite losses to Abington Heights.

The 3A playoffs will likely hinge on a potential Abington Heights–North Pocono rematch, but Dallas’s big-game experience keeps the bracket unpredictable.

Class 4A

Wyoming Valley West (11-5) | Wilkes-Barre Area (10-6-2) | Delaware Valley (8-6)

Wyoming Valley West enters the postseason as the team to beat. The Spartans have built momentum down the stretch, highlighted by a 3-0 win over Hazleton Area and decisive victories against Crestwood (7-2) and Pittston Area (4-1). With a potent attack and strong defensive organization, they’ve proven capable of controlling matches from start to finish.

Wilkes-Barre Area has been equally competitive, splitting the regular-season series with Valley West. The Wolfpack earned a 3-0 win over the Spartans on September 30 before falling 2-1 in a tight crossover with Lake-Lehman. Their recent 4-2 victory over Crestwood showed the team’s balance and ability to capitalize on attacking opportunities when it matters most.

Delaware Valley rounds out the top tier, entering with an 8-6 record and plenty of experience in tight contests. The Warriors’ 1-1 draw with North Pocono and late-season surge underscore their potential to make a run. Delaware Valley’s structure and consistency in big moments give them a legitimate shot at spoiling the favorites.

With these three programs trading results and trending upward, the 4A bracket feels unpredictable. Each has shown the tools needed to advance deep into October — and whichever side finds form first could emerge as this year’s champion.
